Review the first week after a software rollout

The first week reveals small process gaps that a demo may not expose: unclear responsibilities, repeated item searches and printer settings that do not suit actual work.

The everyday problem

The first week reveals small process gaps that a demo may not expose: unclear responsibilities, repeated item searches and printer settings that do not suit actual work. Collect these observations while they are fresh.

A workable process

Ask each role for one task that worked smoothly and one that caused difficulty. Group issues by data, training, configuration or device behaviour. Prioritise the problems affecting everyday work and assign a person to confirm each resolution.

A practical example

If cashiers repeatedly choose the wrong pack size, another general training session may not be enough. The search description or label could need attention. Reviewing the pattern helps distinguish an individual misunderstanding from a setup problem affecting everyone.

Before you finish

Keep the original examples and test the agreed fix with staff. Schedule a follow-up rather than treating every unresolved question as normal, and avoid expanding to more counters before important handoff problems are understood.

Try this check with your team

Keep a short issue log during the first week: task, person, document reference, expected result and actual result. At review, group recurring problems such as item selection, payment allocation or print layout instead of treating every occurrence as an unrelated complaint.

What the result tells you

Fix the recurring cause, train the relevant role and retest the same example. A smaller number of well-resolved process issues is more useful than a long list of interface changes that never verifies whether the daily work improved.
