View full size ↗The everyday problem
A day-end total does not describe unfinished service. When staff change shifts, open tables, pending kitchen work and unresolved guest requests need to be passed on clearly to the next team.
A workable process
Review the floor view together and identify the person taking over each active table. Check outstanding additions, requested bills and any unresolved correction. Use the references available in the configured system so the incoming cashier and floor team can locate the same order.
A practical example
A guest may have asked for the bill just before the outgoing waiter leaves. Without a handover, the incoming team might assume the table is still ordering. Stating the next action is more useful than simply saying the table is occupied.
Before you finish
Keep the handover short but specific: table, current stage, pending action and owner. Follow the business's collection-review process separately so payment questions do not get lost among service notes.
Try this check with your team
Choose an active table, a bill awaiting payment and a completed digital payment from the outgoing shift. Ask the incoming person to locate each reference and state the next action. Record unresolved issues with a responsible person rather than only a total.
What the result tells you
A good handover transfers context as well as collections. It should prevent a table being billed twice, a pending order being forgotten or an already received payment being requested again.
