The manual example uses Primary Unit Box, Alternate Unit Pcs. and Conversion Factor 12. These fields explain why a box purchase and a piece sale affect the same stock. Check the selected unit and rate basis on the transaction as well as the conversion stored in the master.
Buying by the box and selling by the piece need one conversion.
Multiple units connect the way stock is purchased with the way it is sold. If one box contains 12 pieces, the system needs a consistent relationship so a purchase of boxes and a sale of pieces can be understood as movements of the same product.
Define the supported units and conversion before opening stock or everyday billing. Check the unit selected on each line because a rate per box is different from a rate per piece. Use a trial purchase and sale to inspect the remaining quantity in the stock report.

What this looks like in your business.
A carton contains 12 bottles. Receiving two cartons should be checked as 24 bottles in the appropriate stock view.
Good questions.
Clear answers.
Choose the workflow that fits your business and confirm its setup in a demonstration.
What if a supplier changes the pack size?
Do not silently treat the new pack as the old conversion. Identify whether it should be a new item or supported pack variant, then confirm how existing stock and rates will remain distinguishable.
What setup should I confirm?
Confirm conversion direction and permitted fractions. A wrong unit conversion affects every later transaction.
